Recently named one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza is considered to be one of the most dramatically beautiful of the ancient Mayan cities. Spectacular and mysterious, a visit to these ruins takes you back into the 8th century when the city was inhabited by the Itzas.  The site encompasses more than 2 square miles and takes several hours to visit.  The city has 2 main sections, so the best way to see it is to take in the first section, stop for a cold refreshment at the Mayaland Hotel, and then move on to the second section.
