Getting Here
Taxi, Limo, and Shuttle Services
You are probably wondering, "What is the best way from the airport to our hotel?" Because there are so many things to see and do in San Miguel de Allende, we recommend renting a car from for at least a portion of your trip. If you won't have your rental car at the start or end of your trip, the easiest way to get to the hotel is to pre-arrange your transportation through Blissport. Shared shuttle cost from Del Bajío/ León airport is about $30 per person one way. There may be several stops at other hotels, so taking the shared shuttle service may add up to an hour to your trip. Private shuttle starts at around $70 for two passengers. Booking your shuttle in advance guarantees availability and saves you time. You can book your shuttle online or private car service by phone when you book your hotel with your Blissport Concierge.

Rental Cars
If you want to rent a car, you can easily do so at the airport, but it is best to reserve from the US for better rates. Most major rental car agencies have presence at the airport. You can book your rental car in advance with Alamo online or by phone through your Blissport Concierge when you book your hotel. We have also had excellent luck renting from Avis in Mexico. Finally, in many cases you can rent a car locally through your hotel.
Renting a car in Mexico tips: 1 - When you reserve a car, be sure to ask about cancellation penalties, taxes and surcharges; 2 - Your own driver's license is acceptable; you do not need to get an international license; 3 - Take the extra insurance despite the extra cost and no matter what your insurance company or credit card company may say that they cover in Mexico. Regardless of any coverage that your credit card company may offer, make sure you have Mexican auto liability insurance through the rental car company. It is illegal to drive without it in Mexico.

Driving Directions
From Del Bajío International aka León International Airport
If you've never driven through Mexico, you probably should not make San Miguel your first time. Located in the mountains, the city is only accessible via a few perilously winding roads. The town's small city roads were not designed for modern traffic, so traveling in San Miguel can be extremely difficult. Parking is in short supply as well; you will want to arrange to have a spot for your car waiting when you arrive. From the airport, go straight over the bridge and bear right; look for signs to Silao / Guanajuato / Mexico You will pass Silao and come to an exit for Guanajuato Take this exit on the road to Guanajuato - Highway 110 Follow signs and stay on the Cuota (Toll) road to Guanajuato which ends at a toll booth After the toll booth, go around the traffic circle and follow signs to Guanajuato/Dolores Hidalgo Soon you will pass under a pedestrian bridge and take the exit to Guanajuato Follow signs through Guanajuato for Dolores Hidalgo Once reaching Dolores Hidalgo, follow signs to San Miguel de Allende, by Highway 110 You will be entering San Miguel by Ancha de San Antonio Turn right on Pila Seca Cuadrante Pila Seca Cuadrante becomes Hospicio
