Any honeymoon in Turkey is an adventure honeymoon as far as Blissport is concerned, and Turkey is a great fit for our savvier honeymoon travelers. We recommend a few days in Istanbul at the beginning or the end of your trip with at least a few nights stay in Cappadocia, known for its strange rock formations and subterranean cave dwellings. If you’ve seen weird lunar-type photos of Turkey, they were probably taken in Cappadocia. Truly surreal landscapes are found in the towns, not the cities. Check out any one of unforgettable honeymoon properties in and around the towns, of Urgup, Goreme, Uchisar, Avanos and Mustafapasa (Sinasos). Because of the amazing scenery, hot-air ballooning is extremely popular in Goreme and Zelve. If you go to Urgup, you’ve got to stay in the famed Esbelli Evi cave inn in Urgup. A honeymoon in the Cappadocia region of Turkey includes hiking to and among the underground cities of Derinkuyu and Kaymakli, the Ihlara and Soganli valleys and more. The rock-formed monastery of Eski Gumusler near Nigde is a must see.

The scenery in Istanbul can only be described as intoxicating. We recommend at least 2-4 nights to take in the sites near Sultanahmet Square like Topkapi Palace and the sunken palace of Yerebatan Saray, the location of the famous James Bond scene in From Russia With Love. A half-day Bosphorus cruise is a perfect way to enjoy castles, palaces and Ottoman-Victorian villages along Turkey’s coastline.
Why You’ll Love It
More adventurous and exotic than Europe’s more traveled parts, Turkey offers a glimpse into early Rome and Asia. It’s rich history and famous ruins (Troy is probably the most well known and easiest to pronounce) ensure a beautiful and culturally rich honeymoon. In addition to exquisite cuisine, Turkey is probably the Mediterranean’s most inexpensive destinations.
Why She’ll Love It
Turkish hospitality lives up to and exceeds her every expectation. Turkey is full of exotic romance and stunning scenery at every turn. If she’s a savvy shopper, she can wait to hit the Grand Bazaar, a shopping experience that put Istanbul on the map of the world's best shopping destinations. From exclusive shops along Kapalicarsi Caddesi leading up to the Nuruosmaniye entrance to the boutiques of Nisantasi, Istanbul is a shopper’s paradise.
Get to Know Turkey

We hate to be a buzz kill, but Turkey has experienced sporadic violence throughout 2007. Travel is not advised to the Iraq border region. Throughout Turkey, travelers should exercise caution and monitor the news for any travel warnings. Check out Safe Travel for updated government warnings.

Best Booze
We have to break our own rule with this one. Turkey is a Muslim country, so you probably don’t want to broadcast how wasted you got the night before and check first that people that you meet drink before engaging in booze-related conversation. Smokers might want to check out any trendy Istanbul cafes that are now adding nargile (a.k.a. hookah) service to go with their espressos and lattes.
